My illness began ?? who knows but I felt ill for the first time at the end of April 2009. I had been to Adelaide to be part of the 'orgasmic birth' DVD discussion and developed itchy feet and hands and was off my food. Back home and busy with finishing teaching the first year student midwives, itch and lack of appetite continued.
Course ended so off to the G.P. who after blood test and scans diagnosed pancreatic cancer. Jaundice obvious and itch tormenting (it has been almost the worst of this thing). A stent was put into my common bile duct as the tumour was obstructing my duodenum and blocking the duct. A month later the jaundice resolved and the itch abated. 3 weeks after diagnosis I had a laproscope and it was decided that surgery was an option so 4 weeks later I had surgery but the tumour had wrapped itself around some major blood vessels and was thus unable to be removed. I was gutted as I truly believed I had been given a second chance.
